San Francisco, CA - January 26, 2007
- Ginny Velasquez, CEO of San Francisco based national staffing agency TeamPersona, was honored this April, 2007, by the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Hispanic Scholarship Council in their 10th annual Fiesta de las Estrellas (Celebration of the Stars). Ms. Velasquez was presented an Alumni Excellence award to recognize her outstanding achievements in business as a Hispanic.
According to Ginny Velasquez, "I am honored to receive this award and I hope that it offers motivation to young Latinas to strive for success in their careers. In a country where Hispanics are rapidly becoming
the majority, it is mandatory that we as Hispanics realize our full individual potential in order to lead our country forward. I'm also proud to say that UCSD provided me with an outstanding learning experience
which truly catapulted me into my career."

About the UCSD Hispanic Scholarship Council The UCSD Hispanic Scholarship Council is dedicated to creating educational opportunities for San Diego area UCSD students that show great promise but have limited
resources. Funds for the Council are raised through the Council's annual Fiesta de las Estrellas (Celebration of the Stars) gala, which recognizes the achievements of leading citizens in the Hispanic community
Hispanic Scholarship Council scholarships are awarded in connection with the Chancellor's Scholars Program to outstanding students of Hispanic heritage who demonstrate financial need, as well as to Preuss School
graduates of any ethnicity who choose to attend UCSD. The Preuss School is a middle and high school dedicated to providing an intensive college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become
the first in their families to graduate from college.
Now in its tenth year, Fiesta de las Estrellas has raised nearly $700,000 for undergraduate multi-year scholarships at UCSD. Through Fiesta, the Hispanic Scholarship Council not only supports students who represent
the future, it also recognizes the achievements of today's leaders in the community. These Estrellas are outstanding citizens who make a difference in the community and serve as positive role models for tomorrow's
leaders. Fiesta is the Council's salute to the Estrellas, and its effort to build on their success by creating scholarships for the next generation..
